Chip like light source

1 pin insertion type (DIP)

This kind of LED beads is the simplest structure of light emitting diodes, because there are two "feet" like filaments under the beads, which can be directly connected to the circuit board, so it is called pin insertion beads.

Usage characteristics:

It has good security, stable performance, can emit light at low voltage, and low loss, high efficiency, long life, and can also be multi-color dimming.

Common shapes:

This kind of lamp bead can have various shapes, such as circle, ellipse, square, and even irregular shape. Although roughly speaking, the shape and size of the beads are not very different, the cross sections of the beads of different shapes are different.

Luminescence type:

If you look carefully at different beads, you will find that the number of pins of some beads is different. These pins can make light emitting diodes produce different colors of light.

In the field of lighting, pin-insert beads are almost not used; they are commonly used as car lights, indicator lights, display screens, etc.

2 Small Power Surface Mounting (SMD)

This bead light source solders light emitting diodes on the surface of circuit boards rather than through them. Its size is small, and some are even much smaller than pin-in beads.

Common models:

There are many models of this kind of lamp beads, the most commonly used are 2835 (PCT), 4014, 3528, 3014 and so on. The first two digits of each model indicate the width of "x.xmm" and the last two indicate the length of "x.xmm". For example, 2835 stands for 2.8 mm wide and 3.5 mm long.

3 High Power Surface Mounting Type

The third kind of lamp bead is also surface-mounted, which is similar to the small power meter in essence, except that the large power and volume are a little larger; in the fine structure, there is an additional lens, which can better converge the light.

Common types:

There are also many types of high-power meter beads.

Here is a tip: if the surface color of the lamp beads is yellow, it is generally low color temperature; if the surface color is green, it is generally high color temperature; if there is no phosphor, the lamp beads are colorless and transparent, it is generally colorful.

Application area:

This kind of lamp beads are usually used after being covered with lenses (to facilitate the convergence or dispersion of light), often made into spotlights and spotlights.

4 Integrated Packaging (COB)

The last one is the integrated encapsulated lamp beads. It encapsulates many lamp bead chips on the same board, the size of which is the same as the diameter of 5 cents coin.
